Five of a kind
Five of a kind is a high hand that has four of a kind and at least one wild card. It is the highest possible hand in poker. To obtain a five of a kind, a player needs to have at least four cards that are the same suit. Common wild cards are Jacks, deuces, and Jokers. Also, the hand is considered the best if it contains all five aces.
The fourth-best hand in poker is four of a kind, which ranks behind the best hand of a royal flush and the second-best hand, a straight flush. Both of these hands consist of five cards, though only four suits are included in the decks. In addition, quads are different from five of a kind because they have a kicker card – the highest card of either the hand or the board.
Having four of a kind can be achieved naturally, or through a singleton and a wild card. In the latter case, the player will use the wild card to pair the triple with another triple and not pair with the singleton.
Straight flush
